My life is like a school with exactly one student:
ME.
The curriculum is completely custom—every experience, every
interaction with another person, every thought or feeling I experience is part of my “school.”
And I have a LOT to learn.
But I’m not the only one. Life is like that for all of us.
We all may be enrolled in our own private “school” (after all, there is
no one else who has experienced EXACTLY the same things I have), but we all have mortality in common, and we are all learning as we go. None of us have it all figured out (which sometimes feels like a bummer because I could really use an expert to help me through all of these learning experiences!). But as we learn things along the way, we are also given the opportunity to lift, strengthen, and support one another. And that is a huge blessing!
Every experience is for our benefit. Some days I wish every experience was for our pleasure (how would that be!). But whether we are enjoying our “beneficial experiences” or not, one thing I know for sure is that, “. . .men [and women!] are that they might have joy” (2 Nephi 2:25).
And there are tools to help us along in that process. As we successfully learn to use those tools, life’s challenges become easier, our perspective broadens, and we develop greater understanding about the purpose of this “school.”
So, as our paths cross (and I hope they cross often!), I want to know:
What are you learning today?
